The wind explained

The great wind last night was apparently the Chinook phenomenon. It happens when west winds drop from passing over Rockies and heat up (adiabatically--that is on their own from the drop in elevation) and whoosh over the eastern plateau. Gusts to 85 mph were recorded last night. They took the plastic picnic table top and smashed it and blew a lot of cedar shaving ground cover to GOK. It is still in the 50's today but calmer.

Probably more than you really wanted to know. Love, Charlie
